…Calls For Restoration of Political Party Funding.
The Chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantelle has described as outrageous salaries and allowances of political offices holders at all levels and called for a downward review to discourage election vices.
While calling for the restoration of political party’s funding that was withdrawn by the independent electoral commission INEC, he said political parties are been starved of funds , there by living the party’s at the mercy of few rich individuals to control.
Dantelle stated this in an interview he granted on Focus Nigeria , a program of African Independent Television AIT during the week.
He said political office holders at all levels has orchestrated violence, thuggery and crises across all elected positions because of the bogus earning attached to it.
When you reduce salaries and allowances, the need for nationalism and patriotism will be re- emphasized by people occupying leadership position, rather than creating needless crises.
He said the ongoing electoral reform and constitutional amendment desire to focus on these crucial aspects , so as to give political parties more independence and wisdom.
The IPAC chairman stated that the review downward will also discourage corruption and strengthened quality leadership, across all elected political offices.
